About the Partnership

Welcome to the Bioenergy Technology Selection Matrix—a service of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Biomass State and Regional Partnership (The Partnership). This website is designed to provide users a quick method to conduct a preliminary selection of technologies for specific bioenergy applications. To use this website, simply click on the type of biomass (the feedstock) and then click on the energy product desired (process heat, biofuels, space heating and cooling, and electricity). The suggested pathway(s) to convert the biomass selected to the energy form desired will appear on the bottom of the screen.

For a listing of the various biomass feedstocks in the selection matrix, click on the heading labeled "Potential Biomass Feedstocks." For a more detailed listing of the energy products listed in the matrix, click on the heading labeled "Potential Energy Products." General descriptions of the various technology pathways can be found by clicking on the heading "Technology Descriptions."

Your state bioenergy coordinator has a listing of various technology vendors. Click on the heading "State Bioenergy Coordinators" to see a list of the state bioenergy coordinators, including listings for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. A general listing of questions to ask vendors can be found under the heading "Bioenergy Vendor Questions."
